And yes, Lowe himself built a casino hotel on the Vegas strip called the Tallyho Inn. Many casinos offer their players the opportunity to play bingo.Fast forward a few years and by the middle of 1930 about 10,000 church based bingo games were being played weekly Not long after first distributing the game, a priest from Pennsylvania reached out to Lowe about using Bingo to raise money for the church. It's well known that Bingo is commonly played in churches, which also happens to trace back to Lowe. The same Edwin Lowe also developed and distributed Yahtzee and, in 1973, he sold his company to Milton Bradley for $26 million.First played in carnivals, a traveling New York toy salesman by the name of Edwin Lowe changed the name to 'Bingo', worked with a math professor to create roughly 6,000 unique bingo card, and manufactured and distributed the game to households across the country The American version of Bingo, on the other hand, originated in the 1920's and was originally called 'Beano'. From there Bingo spread to France and, in the 18th century, to Great Britain and other European countries. ![]() ![]() The front-drive only Nissan Qashqai is one of the best equipped compact SUV in the segment. It produces 96kW of power and 320Nm of torque, offering 1,400kg of braked towing capacity. Both are powered by a 1.6-litre R9M turbo diesel engine paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), or Xtronic in Nissan speak. In this review, we get behind the wheel of the diesel-powered Nissan Qashqai to find out if it is just as accomplished as its petrol equivalent.Īvailable in two variants, the Qashqai TS and TL are priced from $33,200 and $37,990 respectively. A new diesel variant has now joined the 2015 range, promising exceptional fuel economy without compromising drivability. Qashqais can't compete with some rivals on initial buying costs but they claw back an advantage over time by losing less through depreciation.Late last year, we drove the Nissan Qashqai petrol and loved the compact crossover’s attractive styling, decent road manners and great versatility. On buying and owning, the Qashqai is an attractive prospect especially if you’re looking for a company car in which case the sub-100g/km CO2 emissions of the 1.5-litre diesel make it an excellent choice. The lane departure and collision warning systems that come with the Smart Vision Pack are standard on all but the Visia and Acenta models. The Qashqai is good on quality too, with soft-touch surfaces and a slick switchgear action.Īll Qashqais have stability control, emergency brake assist, six airbags and a five-star Euro NCAP crash rating, boosting its safety rating. ![]() The current Qashqai hasn’t yet appeared in JD Power customer satisfaction surveys, but the last model did very well on reliability, and Nissan overall scores high marks in What Car? reliability surveys. N-tec trim (one above Acenta) is a good compromise, adding sat-nav, all-round cameras and parking sensors and a digital radio. If you need features like heated leather seats, self-parking and full LED headlights you’ll have to shell out quite a bit for the Tekna range-topper. Upgrading to the Acenta brings auto wipers, alloy wheels and dual-zone climate control. In the entry-level Visia models, equipment is decent, with air conditioning, cruise control and Bluetooth. Only the entry-level Visia doesn’t have the false boot floor that provides peace of mind when leaving valuables in the car. There’s no need to tip up the seat bases to fold the rear seats flat. ![]() Qashqai is the class leader on space and practicality thanks to its immense boot and extremely spacious cabin. Instrumentation is clear and infotainment systems easy to use. On the plus side it’s child’s play to find a great driving position. The only quibbles behind the wheel are thick pillars blocking some of the view out and lumbar support adjustment only being available as standard in the more expensive Qashqais. Choose the 114bhp 1.2 or the 161bhp 1.6 petrol engines if you don’t mind working the gearbox a bit more. The 129bhp 1.6 diesel has more performance than the 109bhp 1.5 diesel, but the smaller unit’s adequate power allied to a welcome smoothness makes it the best all-round Qashqai engine. ![]() Dismissal of speed humps makes it a good urban tool. Good control through bends is aided by accurate and well-weighted steering. The car’s high-speed manners are exemplary, and the brakes and gearbox work unobtrusively.Īpart from some jiggliness on bad roads, the Qashqai’s ride and handling are nicely judged. Motorway travel is a pleasure with either of the petrol-engined variants or the 1.5 diesel. The 1.6 diesel is a bit noisier than the 1.5 version but in general the Qashqai’s level of refinement is excellent. ![]() ![]() ![]() Both Renogy Wanderer charge controllers are compatible with sealed, gel, flooded, and lithium batteries. The Renogy Wanderer-Li is a 30A PWM solar charge controller that integrates efficient PWM charging to increase battery life and improve system performance.
